This page is dedicated to helping new players decide where to start if they are confused or want advice on ways to progress in-game.
Guide
After being introduced to the game, do your best to complete chapters 1-10 of the guidebook. While going through the guidebook chapters, start saving up any currency (gold, gems, rubies) you get. This will prepare you for when units like Nokia, Leafy, some of the Dragos are on the banner. Obtaining these units will help you progress to level 90 for chapter 10 of the guidebook. (It is advised to grind levels on the Wisteria Forest story map as this will help later evolution, Kana is from the Demon Slayer crate, which is obtained through doing this map)
After obtaining shiny Gukoo and shiny Tanjie, evolve them both as they will be a great help to you as a newer player.
Using the gold obtained in the guidebook and through grinding levels, try and pull a shiny Nokia, The Primera or Gen and work on evolving them through doing Dungeons.
Note: both Gen and Nokia are 2 step evolutions and must be evolved twice to be useful to you.
After obtaining 1 or more of these units you should complete the guidebook fully to earn yourself multiple rewards such as Ultimate Crates and pure souls (You will need help from others to complete these, use the Party Finder to help find a team).
While doing raids it is advised to try an obtain The Weakest Hunter as the guidebook gives you alot of materials that go towards evolving him into The Monarch which will greatly boost your progress.
Open the Ultimate Crates obtained from the guidebook, looking for a unit such as The Infallible (Idle Stance), Tsunami, Aroma, Egriss, Crimson Haired Pirate or Tomio.
Using these units you should be able to obtain better evolutions such as The Rejector Of Fate, Itchi Moonless Sky, Itchi Instinct Lord, Burdock (Unrivaled Power), Power (Blood Fiend) or, The Hero Of Hell.
After obtaining any of these evolutions, try and obtain another secret such as The Cuatro (Segunda) from story or Betrayer (Hogyoku) from the Fake Karakura Raid. (You may need help with the Fake Karakura Raid as it is very difficult).
Tips
Farm rerolls from Dungeons to easily reroll your units to higher traits
Try and trade once you reach level 100 for unobtainable units or artifacts to boost progress
Units such as Hornless Demon and Crimson Megamen (Evolved) are also helpful in the early game.
